Jones The Grocer

There is this place that has fascinated me for some time already. It is a very spacious and bright eating place. It is a most wonderful place to just sit around and chat.

It carries many wonderful looking types of food ranging from ice-cream to raw beef to coffee & tea to all types of vinegar to desserts.

It even has a special cheese room. Enter at your own risk…. the cheese smell is really strong!

So recently, I stepped in for a sample. This happens to be a very Aussie type of eating place. LO would certainly love it!

We ordered some type of special rocket salad served with wagyu beef. We also ordered another salad made of some kind of special organic cheese with balsamic vinegar plus some walnut stuff. Let me tell you this…. I hate them all!

It was cold and it tasted very unusual. The wagyu beef were raw! It is just not my type of food.

The other two orders that I was more willing to eat were some orange and duck ham (I am not kidding you!) and some sausage thingy.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I am not some kind of China Ah Pek that eats only Chinese food. I do eat food of all nationalities. After all, I want to be a global Christian! But these food that I ordered need some getting used to.

However, there is a sliver lining among the dark clouds. The mocha was really good. In fact, it was one of the best that I have ever tried. I did not eat any dessert but I would certainly eat them the next time I visit this place.

In fact, I will only go for the dessert and coffee the next time I am there.

They served home made white chocolate rocky road, brownie, apple crumble, some pistachio dessert and even whole pieces of harden chocolate fudge!

Enjoy… but it would only be the desserts and coffee for me...

Yea God!

Jesus is indeed in the business of changing lives. He did, he does and he will continually to do so.

For the past 2 Christmas weekends, we had seen a total of 264 people crossing the line of faith. These are people who will be having a first-hand life transforming experience with Jesus. Yea God!

I am most proud of the Adults group as we see a total of 29 people making the decision for Jesus! Yea God and Yea Adults!

I want to take this opportunity to thank every one of you from all the different congregations for your hard work and commitment to Jesus.

Thanks for loving your friends, relatives and colleagues so much that you worked and prayed hard in sowing the great news of Jesus into their lives.

Thanks for laboring in preparing the services and care groups such that people can have a fresh and excellent encounter with Jesus.

Thanks for praying and interceding along for the Spirit of God to touch them in the deepest recesses of their hearts.

Thanks for loving God and loving people.

Most of all, I am just so thankful to God for ministering to the people in ways that only He could. Yea God!

Sakuraya Fish Mart

I have always loved Japanese food, especially sashimi. However, it is not easy to find those that are really fresh and reasonably priced. This is until I was introduced to the Sakuraya Fish Mart after watching Makansutra on TV.

This wonderful eating place is tucked away in the rather ulu Pasir Panjang area. It is around the NUS area. The winding drive along South Buona Vista Road is quite a treat by itself.

I must say that this is one of the freshest sashimi that I have ever tasted. For a very generous helping of Salmon and Tako (Octopus) sashimi (picture), it only costs me around S$17.

You pick your sashimi (freshly packed) at the counter and they will prepare and serve it to you within minutes.

I also love the soupy soba noodles, the maki and the fried pregnant fish too. If you enjoy Japanese food, this should satisfy!

Do try it and let me know your verdict.

Merry Christmas!

A Happy holidays to all. May the wonder of God's love fill your family and you this season.

As I have spoken during the services, I was amazed at some of the most popular questions asked in 2007. According to google.com, some of the most popular questions asked were "who is God?" and "what is love?"

God is love and God is the answer to both of these questions. These searches merely reveal the desire of many hearts all over the globe. Jesus is indeed the answer!

Enjoy Jesus and make Him known.

An Email Sent Out Regarding Christmas Services

Hi leaders,

Greetings to you!

First and foremost, I just want to thank all of you for another year of commitment and selfless contribution to Jesus and His people. It had made a definite difference to the Kingdom. I am really thankful to God for the opportunity to serve Him with you.

On that note, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage us to give it our best shot for this coming Christmas weekend. Do lock arms with me in the following ways…

1) Pray for a bountiful harvest

Only the Holy Spirit can move the hearts of men. While we do all that is humanly possible, we need God to move the hearts of men. Pray that the pre-believers and backsliders will have a very special moment with God during the coming weeks’ small group meetings and this weekend services.

2) Invite pre-believers and backsliders

Let’s be God’s messengers in sending His invitations out to His banquet. This is a good time to invite our friends, school mates, colleagues, our family members and relatives. Christmas is the time where people’s hearts are strangely open to attending church and knowing more about Jesus!

3) Participate during the services

The gospel is preached through every one of us during the services. Do participate and give our full support to the events that are taking place on the stage. Together, we will make the gospel come alive in all its beauty.

Have a most joy-filled Christmas.

See you at The Rock!

Five Loaves & Two Fishes

On this weekend, we are going to look at the only miralce that is recorded in all of the 4 gospels. How cool is that!

Here's a song from Singaporean Corrinne May about that miracle. 2 different versions for different preference.

Enjoy!

Thank You Hope Malaysia

I had come back from Malaysia National Convention from Kuching. It had been a fantastic 5-day trip for me. It would be treason of cosmic proportion if I do not take some time to thank the wonderful people of Hope Malaysia.

Thank you for all the kind words of encouragement to the Hope Singapore people and me.

Thank you for all the wonderful treats that you have lavished upon us. Our cups (and plates) overflow!

Thank you for giving me many undeserved preferential treatments from rooms, to car rides to drinks to etc etc etc etc!

Thank you, pastors and leaders, for giving me the opportunity to learn through serving.

Thank you, Pastor Denis & Hai Eng, for your friendship and love and much much more.

Thank you, Pastor Simon & Lai Eng, for your time and leadership.

Most of all, thank you all for loving Jesus the way you do. I am totally awed.

A Pastoral Church Camp In South Africa

For 2008, Hope Johannesburg will be focusing on the fundamentals of outreach, discipleship and shepherding. To build the church stronger and bigger, we need to have these basics in place. Thus, for the camp, we have chosen the theme of a pastoral (or shephering) church.

I was there to teach some lessons but more importantly, to train the local leaders on leading, training and doing ministry. It was an exciting camp where many had learnt much. Four of our members were spirit baptized while five experienced water baptism as well during the camp.

I am very blessed to be able to spend these life transforming moments with our Hope Joburg church.

The camp was held is a valley where there were hills and lots of greenery. The sight was most magnificent.

As I had often spoken about Africans' unique style of Zulu praise and worship, I recorded this short video clip to share with us all.

It’s rather cool!
