Installment #1

As shared, I was in a coaching session with Bill Hybels and Wayne Corderio not too long ago. It was a tremendous learning time for me. I want to take some time to just share some of the lessons that I have learnt in various instalments. Here’s the first one…

2 Key Roles Of Church Leadership

1) Outreach

We have to ensure that there is a continual inflow of new people into the Kingdom. Wayne described that doing church without outreach is liken to playing basketball without the hoops. We can pass and dribble and do all sorts of tricks well but we are going nowhere.

Leaders have to ensure that the temperature of outreach remains high and gets even higher in the church life.

2) Discipleship

Leaders have to ensure that new leaders and being developed on a consistent basis. The currency for kingdom development has a lot to do with leadership. We need more and better leaders in every arena of the Kingdom.

We have to be intentional to disciple and raise up new and better and even younger leaders. We are not building our church and groups for ourselves but for our children’s children as well.

Hope this shed some light into our hearts and ministries as we go about His Kingdom business

Hey Pastor! I thought that it is a good idea that you update your twitter whenever you have a new post. That's what Tony Morgan always does (And he puts the link to his post in his twit), so many people can get directed there to learn from his post!

I like the illustration about without outreach is like playing basketball without the hoop. It is a timely reminder for me to challenge our people in Hope Quito to outreach during this Christmas season. :)

Hi Pastor!

"We need more and better leaders in every arena of the Kingdom"
1. Better leaders (in what sense?)

2.What are the different arenas of the Kingdom you are referring to?

Thanks Pastor Jeff! We will do our very best. We are having church camp from 4-6 Dec in Ecuador. Do pray for us that we will be able to challenge and motivate our people towards personal growth and outreach during this church camp. :)

Hi NZ, thanks for the question.

It would be hard for me to address it all here. I was looking more for comments and questions on the posting.

Catch me at an appropriate time and I can certainly share some with you. Or perhaps, in due time, I can post something like that.

Thought through it…
If 'more' refers to quantity then, 'better' should be quality. :)

Quality - Competencies that will improve us to be 'better' leaders. So we need to keep on improving. Get ourselves educated and equipped in the WOG and relevant areas (worldly wise) that will help us reach out effectively.

Skills - People helping skills - Conflict management etc.. - and whatever we need to improve in so that we can be a blessing and not a burden to the 'Different arenas': remember what you preached before...
- present location
- present vocation

We should know our God-given gifts and keep on improving in our strengths so that we will move on from being better to great for the glory of God.

thanks ced for the sharing... quality would also include the character of the person. This is of paramount importance as we are doing God's work here.

We may be able to teach what we know but we will always reproduce who we are.
