I want to share one certain verse with you: 1 John 2:15-16, James 4:4.

Then why do you talk about the things of the world that is enmity with God? 2 Cor 6:14-18

The things of the world is for eg, MJ, your fav band...etc.

Thanks.

haha... i got your point.

I enjoy these things (like people enjoy certain food and sports) and these things are not enemies of God.

Things that opposes God could be things like satanic music etc. If I like those stuff, then it would not be right.

Do also talk to some other leaders that can give you more insight into what I am syaing here...

Hi Pastor Jeff, Ming Yu from youth here. I think it's good and cool that you post about your interests and what you do outside of directly serving Hope Church. Shows a pastor has to be relevant all the more!

I'm a great fan of sport too except I support Arsenal. Nevertheless I respect the work Sir Alex has done at United and I'm quite interested to see how he plans to work without Ronaldo and Tevez next season because I'm sure he has a plan, the same way Wenger has one but hasn't quite worked (yet), haha.

Anyway, I would like to ask what's your take on Venerable Ming Yi's lies and cover-ups. I have nothing to say about much of the inappropriate usage of funds; however, while reading about why he tried to cover up to protect his assiatant and the reputation of his organization which he calls 'baby', I felt there was much good intention and compassion about it. What do you think?

hi ming yu, perhaps arsenal will do better in this coming season :)

think fundamnetally, there is a mismanagement issue here. Whatever the intention may be, there is no need to cover up if everything have been done in a above-board way

I must say that the lyrics "but I still haven't found what I'm looking for" is a bit "unscriptural" though.

However, Jesus himself admitted to "eating & drinking" and people have accused him of being a glutton & drunkard and a friend of tax collectors and sinners.

In my opinion, it is the day to day character of a person that determines whether one is worldly, not the "unchristian" music he occasionally listens to.

I retyped this comment many times, trying to think of how to explain this song, but I give up - it says it best by itself.

Let's just say this is the song of a man who has faith in God, and who is honest and unpretentious about his humanity.

Bono says the song "is in the tradition of the Psalms of David, a song about doubt which reinforces faith." I think Psalm 13 might be a good example.

The song is originally from the album Joshua Tree. Great album and still the best from the band...

I have a copy of the Book of Psalms with Bono's written foreword. He writes from a seeker's point of view not a theological one... and that is reflected all over the book of psalms which is basically the outcry of people hungry and seeking for God.

When we read Psalms, we can relate as it reflects our many of our own heart.

Haiz...Jesus mixed with such people with an intent of sharing the gospel of salvation and to preach hell, not to indulge in such things that could displease God. See the difference, lor.

2 cent opinions of mine. :P
