Writing From Thailand

I am just stealing some time from the conference break for this entry. I had been here since last Thursday. It had been a refreshing (in the heart & spirit) and yet tiring (physically) time. I look forward to sharing some of these adventures on this blog soon and very soon...

Hi Pastor, i chanced upon ur blog by chance and would like to ask you a few questions about God. Im a non-believer by the way. Pastor, why does God allow sufferings, illnesses and disasters to exists? And how can something be created out of nothing?( eg. God, who actually created God?) Another thing, would you let your loved ones suffer? Let me tell you Pastor, as a non-believer, having imperfect and conditional love, i wouldnt allow it and would at all cost of my life die to protect my love ones. And so why does God allow us to suffer since His love is perfect. Its fine if you dont want to answer. I know you are a busy man and i dont mean anything to you.
Ps: Your blog is very enriching. Makes me curious about God
=)
Peace

Mnay thanks for all your comments. I am very glad to be back and I will be spending the next 2 days hard at work for the weekend :)

Hi peace (or is it anonymous?), I am very happy to know that this blog has enriched your life in anyway. You are so very important to God and to me.

With regards to your question on suffering, it revolves around the justice and love of God. God is just and thus He has to standards. God is love and His will is not none of His creation suffers. And God has spared no effort to communicate His love and grace to all of His creation. It hurts God greatly when people suffers.

These are very good questions that had been asked by many before. If you would allow me to give your questions a more comprehensive treatment, please do give me your email address by reaching me at church@hopesingapore.org.sg

I look forward to communicating with you more.

heyo.. Anonymous (aka Peace),
there's a typo in above... ps Jeff knows he wants to say "His will is that not one of His creation suffers." :)

At the risk of sounding simplistic (because answers cannot be provided in detail here like this),

here are just some links that I hope are helpful to you...

What kind of world would you create?

Does suffering and pain in this world disprove God? http://www.christiananswers.net/evangelism/responses/comfort-suffering.html

If he is a God of love..

"The other gods were strong; but You made yourself weak; They rode, but You did stumble to a throne; But to our wounds only God's wounds can speak,
And not a god has wounds, but You God alone."
-- "Jesus of the Scars"

"... we are assured of God's love by Christ's wounds."
--D. A. Carson in 'How Long, O Lord?'

"For He was pierced for our sins; he was trampled on for our inequities." (The Bible). No other god deigned to be humbled and trampled on by mortals, in order to redeem them by his own cruxificion.
