Indo At The City Bayview
31 March 2007 marked our first Indonesian Service in the City Bayview Hotel. It was awesome!
I was so excited that I arrived at the hotel at around 1:40pm. The service was due to start at 4pm! I was early because I wanted to spend time with the Indo team and encouraged them along the way. It was great to see everyone being mobilized.
Yin San and Jorry, the Indo service leaders were also there with the rest of us. We went through the décor, the food, the music, the sound, the praise and worship, the ushering and every other thing that needed to be in place. I am so proud of the whole team.
At around 3:15pm, We had our pre-service prayer and from the way they prayed, it was evident that not only everyone’s hands were in this, everyone’s hearts were in it too.
Our service started promptly at 4pm. The worship team was fantastic. The musicians were really skillful and the worship leaders led us into the presence of God. Although I could not understand most of the Bahasa songs, I was still ministered by being in the Spirit’s Presence.
One of the highlights was a video presentation that chronicled the growth of the Indonesian group over the years. It was a powerful visual testimony of the faithfulness of God.
I preached from the gospel of John after the video. I tried to insert a few Bahasa words here and there but to little avail :(
The room was packed and it was indeed “warm” fellowship. I believed that there were close to 60 people in the service.
At the end of the service, all of us committed ourselves to God by writing our little prayers on little footprints that were given out to all of us. This was in line with the service theme, "A New Step".
After the service, we fellowshipped at the nearby Kopi Tiam. To say that the Indonesians love fellowship would be an understatement of the century!
“Jesus, I want to thank you for our Indo group. I am so blessed by their hearts and love for you and for one another. May you continue to cause them to prosper in every aspect of their lives and ministries. Lord, bless the leaders and help them to lead them to greater heights. May your Name be praised through all that they do. Amen.”
Some useful information for you to bring your Indonesian friends and relatives to our services.
The Indonesian service is held every Satruday at the City Bayview Hotel on Bencoolen Street. The service starts at 4pm. You can contact Yin San at 63179155 (Tel) for more info.

PTL!
hw do i show to the new believer tat jesus is true
Just came back from lunch... how timely is this!
Yes, Andrew. PTL indeed!
One of the best ways is to help the new believers experince the reality of Jesus through answered prayers. Help them to ask God for certain help in their lives. When God help them, they will then know for sure that Jesus is alive and real!
Another way is through received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You can talk to any of the leader about this. The Spirit will begin bear witness in the new believer's heart.
Romans 8:15-16
15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
It was great. Although I didn't know all the Indonesian words, I knew that God would minister to me through all languages & His spirit and He did. I just followed the words on the screen & sang with God's spirit.
My Indonesian friend who went was also ministered by God and was very excited at the end of the service when he went to paste his footprint in front to recommit to God, although he refused to tell me what exactly he wrote.
The only thing not so cool was that it was hot. Can I make a suggestion? The bright spotlights were causing the "church on fire" feeling. They are actually adjustable with knobs that can make them dimmer.
I turned the knob at the back of the room to dim the spotlights at the back and it worked wonders. We were all cooler within minutes and it was not too dim, & not too bright.
let the ushers and the Indo service ministers know that they can adjust the spotlight brightness with the knobs.
When service starts & it gets too hot, they know that they can just do that.
Other than that, it was just great. God was there.
Hi Pastor Jeff
I met a Filipino IT guy on the way back to Singapore from Batam and he mentioned that he had attended our First Indonesian service! He is a new Catholic convert (and the only 1 in his Family to do so)!
He sat next to me on our Return Ferry Trip on late Wed, April 4th 2007 (this was the 2nd last ferry scheduled for Singapore). He was watching his DVD on "Jesus" and I struck a conversion with him. I've invited him to visit our Church if he is in town (as he goes to Batam almost daily every week).
But keep on praying for this Bro from this company - Infinion (I will have to locate his namecard to contact him).
God Bless!
